It's Getting Warmer

We have now passed our four-month mark of island life.  In so many respects it’s hard to believe we have been here that long.  Our days are full, we fall into bed and most always have a list for the next day.  And we wouldn’t want it any other way.  There are still many cultural adjustments we’re wading through but we have been mostly successful in navigating our way to various locations.   We have identified grocery stores we prefer, even though we may not understand the ingredients or find specific items we want.   We will NEVER adjust to the craziness of drivers here.    It’s our daily prayer that we can avoid an accident and outguess what the person in front of us will do.  Below are some recent photos of a visit to Famagusta which we've posted about previously, but we never tire of its charm.  We recently visited Queen who had a baby girl late February.  We will assist in having the baby blessed at church in a couple of we...

Lovely Mediterranean Spring

  Here we are again popping in to update our blog.  We trust they aren’t too boring to our readers, but in the end when we have it printed we can rely on it to trigger some happy thoughts of our experience here. I’ve become convinced that the Cypriots wrap anything in phyllo pastry.   I’ve sampled a number of items that are shrouded in phyllo pastry.   Those lovely layers of pastry add deliciousness to anything they come near and consequently add layers to those who indulge!! A fellow senior missionary who returned home recently said she had to get home so she could lose the weight she gained on the Mediterranean diet!!   It’s totally understandable. Our district president and wife, the Browns, invited us over with the elders. The Günter's live right on the sea and hosted us for a lovely Saturday lunch.  The salad was adorned with nasturtiums from her garden.  Delish.
